Our Story

Nestled in the foothills of the Simonsberg mountain lies the Lamberti winery, where we grow two noble red grape varieties, Cabernet Franc and Tannat.

Being small, we do everything by hand, from the vineyard to the cellar. This allows us to take special care at all stages of the process.

Our vines are our most precious commodity. Good vines produce great grapes, which allow us to produce a great wine. We are not an organic farm, but we do limit our use of chemicals. Being hands on allows us to identify problems early and often we can treat a problem naturally.

Tannat is characterized by its firm tannin structure, deep colour, and its ability to age well. Cabernet franc, on the other hand, is a classic medium-bodied red with moderate tannins. The blend of these two grapes makes the wine more approachable in its youth and adds to its complexity.

Long Dog is carefully blended from these noble red grapes producing a wine that bold yet accessible, complex yet balanced. It is barrel aged for two years in French oak.

The wine shows a great balance between ripe fruit flavours of red plum and black raspberry, spice notes of cardamom and dried herbs and a good tannin structure with fresh acidity on the finish.
